This innovative do-it-yourself (DIY) concept from Amsterdam lets you make your own liqueurs and cocktails at home. By using wood chips from used barrels or carefully blended botanicals, you can turn a neutral alcoholic drink into something unique and personal.

What are Snippers?
Snippers are bottles filled with wood chips from used barrels that previously held whisky, rum or gin. Adding a neutral spirit, such as vodka or Dutch gin, allows the drink to absorb their rich aromas and flavours. Over time, it develops the characteristic qualities of the original spirit.
Snippers range
Originals
The Originals range focuses on reusing wood chips from previously used barrels. Add a clear spirit to the chips and after about eight weeks you will have a drink with the flavour and colour of the original spirit. The maturation process takes place in a cool, dark place, where the wood chips gradually release their flavour into the drink.
Botanicals
The Botanicals range instead uses dried herbs, spices and fruits. These let you create a flavourful drink in just 24 hours. Examples include Spiced Whisky with orange peel, liquorice and allspice, as well as the Coffee Vanilla and Pink Gin varieties.
How does it work?

Choose your base drink
Use a clear spirit with an alcohol content of at least 30%.

Add the spirit to the Snippers bottle
Pour your chosen spirit into the bottle containing wood chips or botanicals.

Let the mixture infuse
- For the Originals: around eight weeks in a cool, dark place
- For the Botanicals: at least 24 hours

Strain the drink
Use a strainer to remove the shavings or botanicals before serving the drink.
